The Ohio Tobacco Festival
The Ohio Tobacco Festival was officially formed in January 1982 at a meeting held in the basement of the Masonic Lodge in Ripley.

At that meeting, the purpose of the festival was defined. "To create an awareness of tobacco, to provide a few days of entertainment and perhaps make some money for participating organizations."

Twenty years ago tobacco was grown on more than 11,000 farms in Ohio, providing over $36 million in net revenues to Ohio farmers on an annual basis and generating more than $57 billion a year nationally.

The festival has free admission, free entertainment, free shuttle service and free contests. The festival provides visitors and residents  with a fun-filled weekend packed with contests, entertainment and food that the whole family can enjoy.  4th weekend in August.

Annual Barrel Tasting. Local wineries including Kinkead Ridge, Harmony Hill and Meranda-Nixon hold their annual barrel tasting the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
