Brown County is bordered by the beautiful Ohio River in the south, Adams County on the east and Clermont County to the west. From the U.S. Grant Celebration in Historic Georgetown in April to the River Village Christmas in Ripley's charming downtown in December, there are many activities which are entertaining and educational. Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th president of the United States, grew up in Georgetown, where he received his appointment to West Point. Agriculture is still king in Brown County. The Tobacco Festival, the Ohio Valley Antique Machinery Show and Brown County Fair bring thousands to the county each year. Brown County's Appalachian Heritage is never more evident than during the Bluegrass Festival held annually at the Brown County Fairgrounds. Hundreds come to pay homage to some of the leading bluegrass groups in the United States as they perform.
